Oh I never gave up on you....

Yesterday, I made a post asking for y'all to tell me your opinion on love at first sight. I got a dozen responses and I was happy about that. I always enjoy finding out what others think about certain topics. It's always interesting to see who believes in what and why. In the post, I said I would answer my own question today. So, here I am. =o)

I don't believe in love at first sight. I just don't. Love is such a complex thing. I don't think you can have something so complex happen in a glance.

I believe in lust at first sight.

I believe in instant attraction at first sight.

I believe in chemistry happening the moment you talk to someone.

I believe in infatuation at first sight.

I believe that you can see someone and be smitten with them the moment you see them. I believe that if you talk and there's attraction, lust and chemistry there present immediately or almost immediately that you can start feeling hopeful. It's a crush, infatuation, chemistry, desire, wanting, hope for something more.
Giddy anticipation, your heart skipping a beat, your breath catching in your throat, seeing stars, feeling like you're floating, butterflies in your stomach and all the mushy, sweet things in the world. It's real and they're all very valid and beautiful emotions but I don't think it's love when you don't even know the person. I think you can feel all the things I just listed and that can make you feel like you're in love. Especially if all of those things happen right away and then things progress beautifully and you do end up in love with that person.

Love is so much more than you can pick up in 5 minutes. I've known my boyfriend for 4 years and come May 25th, we'll have been together for 3 years. It took me much longer than 5 minutes to love him. Love is deeply complex and it's more than giddy feelings, butterflies, attraction, lust, infatuation and chemistry. Don't get me wrong, I think all of those things are part of falling in love but I don't think falling in love within minutes of seeing someone is possible. I just don't.

Of course, if you believe differently from me, that's fine. Whatever works for you. Everything I stated is just my own personal opinion on the subject. ;) I'm just cynical perhaps. Okay, I am cynical and I'm not a romantic either. Respect my stance and I'll respect yours, even if we don't agree. =) Thanks to everyone who left a comment on the post yesterday. I appreciate it. Y'all rock!

I have misplaced my new toy some how. Maybe it got true to it's butterfly form flew away? Lol. Seriously, I don't have a lot of options of where it could be. I hide them in two places and two places only and it's in neither of those places. I hope I didn't accidentally throw it away when I was rushed and cleaning out one of the hiding places I use. Hmmm.

Last night I got to see one of my favorite bands play live. The opening band SUCKED. I think they are definitely one of the worst bands I have ever seen play. Had I not been on the rail, I would have left during their set because they were so awful. When you get there early and get a spot on the rail, you don't leave unless you have someone there to hold your spot. You'll never get that spot on the rail back, lol. For anyone unfamiliar with being in the pit, the rail is the barrier set there that keeps the crowd back from the stage. It's about 6 to 8 feet away from the stage generally and it's the closest you can get. Land a spot there and people will push and shove trying to get you off there and take your spot. I kept my spot. I got some awesome shots too. I always get a tad bit apprehensive at shows just before the bands I like come on. I always worry about how a band sounds live when I've never seen them before, especially when it's one I LOVE. If they sound like shit, it's going to bum me out. Luckily, I was not disappointed. The metal band I saw has beautiful music and their vocalist has an amazing, gorgeous voice. I had such a good time. =) My mom went to the show as well. She enjoyed herself, save for the first band which she didn't enjoy at all. She bypassed a seat to stand in the pit and held up just fine on the rail too. ;)

Happy Thursday!

I agree on your take on love at first sight.

I also appreciate the advice about the rail. My concert pit days are probably over, but its good to have valuable advice to pass on to the kids.

Oh yea lust at first sight? Most definately. Love hmm not so convinced lol.

As for the pit ... akk last time I did that I nearly suffocated ... all 5"2 of me standing on the back of people's legs after getting pushed outta the way LOL. I hates it. it scares the shit out of me these days.

The model? ... sounds messy let them sort it out you ain't in their shoes ;) xxx

definately agree with you on the love thing. it takes much longer to truly KNOW someone enough to really love them.

cool that you kept your spot all night and that but especially that your mom went with. that's pretty sweet if you ask me!

I experienced love at first sight with my ex husband. From the moment I saw him I *swooned* and continued to do so for 13years.... Until I opened my eyes to reality and saw what an asshat he really was. I was enlightened ;)

I do still believe in it. But I def think love takes more than that 'first sight' instance.

You're you and I'm me when it comes to love. ;) Oh yeah, there's that undeniable lust at first sight. There's also that pesky concept of love right around the corner. LOL Yes, I am back.

I agree with you about love at first sight, but I do think some people make a decision in that first moment - they see something they want and follow it and choose to be in "love" as they call it...real love comes later. I like this post very much!

I didn't read this before answering but I knew exactly how you would answer it. I think you're right on, but like I said. I'm a hopeless romantic :)
